Free treadmill pace converter

Turn treadmill speed into running pace.

Enter miles per hour or kilometres per hour to see minutes per mile, minutes per kilometre and equivalent 5K and 10K times.

This is a mathematical speed conversion. It does not estimate equivalent outdoor effort or correct for incline.

Conversion method

Speed and pace are two views of the same clock.

MPH to minutes per mile

Divide 60 by the treadmill speed. At 6.0 mph, 60 ÷ 6 equals 10 minutes per mile. At 8.0 mph, the result is 7.5 minutes, or 7:30 per mile.

KM/H to minutes per kilometre

Use the same formula with kilometres: 60 divided by km/h. A setting of 10.0 km/h equals 6:00 per kilometre. A setting of 12.0 km/h equals 5:00 per kilometre.

Why treadmill effort can feel different

The output is a unit conversion, not a physiological equivalency model. Belt calibration, incline, airflow, room temperature, surface stiffness and individual mechanics can all change perceived effort. Treat the converted pace as a common language for comparing sessions, then judge effort from your own repeatable evidence.

Treadmill conversion FAQ

Quick answers before the next interval.

How do I convert treadmill mph to minutes per mile?

Divide 60 by mph. Six mph is 10:00 per mile; eight mph is 7:30 per mile.

How do I convert treadmill km/h to minutes per kilometre?

Divide 60 by km/h. Ten km/h is 6:00 per kilometre; twelve km/h is 5:00 per kilometre.

Does 1% incline equal outdoor running?

No single incline reproduces every outdoor route or runner. Wind, surface, temperature, belt calibration and mechanics all matter. Use incline deliberately for the workout, not as a universal correction.
